LE MOULIN DE LA GALETTE. (Based on Pablo Picasso's painting)

Plot:
-        Three single cousins at a party.
-        They are trying to get a rich husband
-        The three of them want the same guy
-        He left the party with another woman.
Characters:
-        Drusilla: envious, resentful, mean. Never had a boyfriend. 18 years old.
-        Charlotte: depressed, broken-hearted recently. Lovesick. 16 years old.
-        Nina: naïve, “in love with love”, innocent. No boyfriend. 15 years old.

The three cousins are sitting and talking at a party. The classic music is heard background. They are gossiping in a low voice, using their fans to hide their mouths. Suddenly, Charlotte sees something and stands up violently.
C: I’m leaving!
N: (surprised) what? Why? Wait! We’ve just arrived!
D: (in a tired tone) here we go again…. What’s the problem now?
C: (Sobbing) I can’t see him with another woman… It’s so hard!! I can’t stand it! (Crying loudly now)
D: (nervous) Stop crying for God Sake! You are embarrassing us! (Pour a glass) Drink this! (She handles her a glass with a strong beverage). He’s been always a jerk! I’ve warned you since the day you met him!
N: (with a calm voice) Drusilla… don’t be so mean to her… she is in love.
D: (serious and talking to Nina) she has to face the truth. We have been listening to her crying for two weeks now… I’m getting tired. (Not looking at Nina, looking to another part of the room)
C: (with tears) I’m sorry…. He has just broken my heart. I can’t handle it.
N: (comprehensive and loving) OH!! It’s ok Charlotte… Here you have a handkerchief. (She handles it to her.) Try to calm down. (She rubs her back)
D: Drink this! (She handles Charlotte another glass)
They are sitting, looking at the people dancing and listening to music. Suddenly, Nina sees someone.
N: Charlotte! I have an idea! There is lot of handsome men here. Let’s look for a husband for you. Look around! (Showing her the place with her hand)
C: I cannot see anyone. I only have eyes for him. (With deception and sadness)
N: There is George. (Pointing to someone) He looks nice tonight.
D: (straight away) He has no money. And lives with his mother.
N: (with nice voice and looking to her with a “stop” looking) Drusilla… and... What about David? (Looking at Charlotte) He’s such a gentleman.
D: He is a no one. He doesn’t have his own business. He is an employee. (Speaking in a low voice, almost whispering and with her fan in her mouth)
N: I don’t care about money (with a strong voice now) I only care about love, just like Charlotte. (With a romantic voice)
D: That’s why you are with us. (With a sarcastic voice)
N: Wait!! Gregg would be perfect for you! He is a musician… tender, generous..
D: Boring!! (With an unpleasant voice and putting her finger into her mouth, miming that is going to throw up.)
Charlotte looks at him, with a doubting face. Suddenly, she sees someone entering and her face completely change to a happy one. She grabs her cousins’ arms and gasp:
C: Wait! Look at him!! Who is him? (Pointing to the man)
N: ahhh… (Love sight) He looks like prince charming… we are going to have beautiful kids together…  (Hopeful tone)
D: (with a sharp tone) keep dreaming. He is mine. He is worthy. (Standing up and preparing herself to go and gets him)
C: No! (She grabs her and sits her down) I saw him first! We were looking a man for me, not for you. I’m the broken hearted here.
N: Girls… (Looking at the man) Don’t fight. He is looking at me. (Making an “in love” face and moving her lashes)
D: (talking to Charlotte) you are not the only desperate here. Besides, I’m the old one. I have the right to choose first. (With an arrogance voice)
C: Why don’t you look for a widow or someone of your age? (Looking to Drusilla, angry)
N: Girls… you are losing your time. He is already in love with me.
C: So, why is he dancing with Elizabeth? (to Nina and pointing at the couple)
N: (not paying attention) I can see it in his eyes. He loves me.
D: I’m not worried about her. She is an insipid skeleton.
C: (sad again) She is more beautiful than me!
N: Don’t be silly… (Calming her down) You are also beautiful. (She sees someone else)
D: (suddenly and angry) See!!! (Pointing at the couple) We’re here talking and he’s leaving with her!! Because of you, I lost him! Jeez!!! (Nervous)
C: That’s not true! (Angry now) You lost him because you are old and mean! Isn’t she, Nina?
N: (already watching to another man, not paying attention to the conversation) what?  Never mind. I’ve just fallen in love again… we are going to have beautiful babies… (Romantic tone)
D: (impatient and with no hope) Here we go again….

Hopes die last. (Based on Dalí's painting Figure at a window)

Hopes die last

It was about 1945, two weeks after the end of the Second World War. The German nation was devastated by its consequences and Helena Kofman was not the exception.
“War is finally over but I don’t know anything about my love. I feel so empty without his presence and I really miss him. I can’t wait to see him again and to take up our lives where we left it off. Loneliness has been my only friend for the last two year but I can’t stand it anymore” her voice was suffocated with sobs.
What she did not know was that, that day, everything was going to change.
As news travels fast, Johann, a neighbor, turned up to her house and let her know something really important.
“Mrs. Kofman, I have some news!” he said.
“Please, tell me! – is it about my husband? – is he alive? – Where is he?  Please just tell me!” She said desperately.
“I’m sorry. I just know that downtown there are some lists with the survivors’ names and many soldiers will be back home soon. But we need to have a look at those lists. If you want, I can go with you.” He expressed.
Frantically, they rushed to that place with the hope of finding her husband’s name.
“Helena! Look! He is alive! In the twinkling of an eye, you will be with him again. ” Johann exclaimed cheerfully.
When Helena saw his name there, she broke down into tears.
Feeling extremely excited, she went home to prepare everything for his arrival.
Days passed on, but he never arrived. She was very worried when, one morning, general Meyer, knocked at her door.
“Good morning madam. Are you Mrs. Kofman?” He asked seriously.
“Yes, I am. Can I help you? – Why are you here? She faltered.
“I’m sorry but I’ve got bad news… Mr. Kofman passed away.” the general informed.
“What? What are you talking about? That’s not true.” She yelled.
“I’ve been sent to let you know about it. I’m sorry.” He replayed
“Wait…what?...What happened? There must be a misunderstanding, what you are saying doesn’t add up!” said Helena.
“Unfortunately, he was seriously injured and died on his way back home. We are deeply sorry for your loss.” the General explained.
Helena’s biggest fear was borne out by the General. Although she knew that that was true, she did not accept it, and from that morning onwards, her life started to fall apart. Even though nobody spoke to her again, people could see Helena Kofman at the window every morning. Everybody guessed that she was hoping to see him again.

The silly bet, based on Man smoking a pipe by Cezanne.

THE SILLY BET
Long time ago in a far away country, there were two well-off rivals families who had been fighting for their honor from generation to generation. Until one day, the day when the two elder sons of each family, Richard Thomson and Henry Lancaster, decided to bet all their possessions to defend their family´s honor.
Henry entered the tavern and approached to the counter saying violently:
 “A whisky on the rocks!!!”
As he turned around, he unintentionally hit Richard´s arm, making his glass drop from his hand. So, Richard got really angry and exclaimed:
“Let´s finish with this. I´ll bet you Henry Lancaster all your belongings in a card game. If you win, apart from taking all my possessions, you will win not only my respect but also the whole town´s. What´s more, you´ll have the chance to choose something else I cannot refuse to give you. But if I win, my rights will be the same.”
“I do accept your challenge, Richard Thomson. Let´s do it now!!!” Henry answered.
People present gathered around a table situated in the middle of the tavern where Henry and Richard would play the card game. The tavern keeper offered himself to be the judge.
When the game started, they weren´t conscious about the importance of such a silly bet. As the game was progressing, the nervousness dominated their minds and little by little, it was noticeable in their game performances.
“How does it feel to be about to lose everything, Henry?” Richard said sarcastically.
“I wouldn´t be that sure. If I were you, I would measure my words”, Henry answered.
Everybody there was anxious expecting the game to finish. So, they encouraged them to keep arguing as it was a spectacle never seen before. The game progressed  steadily, and it was hard to know who the winner woulb be.
Richard threw the cards abruptly at Henry and said:
“I win Henry Lancaster!!  Straight Flush!!
Henry got serious and put his head down for a while. Then he exclaimed:
“Royal Flush, in your honor! “And threw his cards on the table.
People became excited shouting Henry´s victory with enthusiasm. As Henry heard them, he interrupted them saying to Richard:
“Wait, wait, wait. I´m the winner and apart from taking all your possessions, I demand something else…”
“Yes, that was the deal.” He said resigned.
“I want your beloved lady for me”, Henry said with a smile on his face.
“Are you serious?” Richard said shocked.
“Oh yeah. I mean it!”
Henry left the tavern feeling victorious with people accompanying him chorusing his name. But only one man remained there. It was Richard Thomson finding himself in bankrupt and defeated.
Too late did he realize he had lost everything. Honor is not something that can be won or lost in a bet.

GROUP: Paula, Guadalupe, Maira and Virginia.
Story based on The luncheon by Monet.

This is the story of a wealthy family of Cambridge. The family’s members were: the mother, Martha; the father, John; two daughters, Katrina and Victoria; a son, Little John and a servant, Elizabeth.
They had lived happily together till John’s death because of a terminal illness.
A month after his death, the family received a letter revealing  John’s last will.

Elizabeth. Excuse me madam, a letter has just arrived.
Martha: Oh!!! (in a voice of joice) What brings this man here???? Hope it is good news.

Martha starts reading the letter outloud.

Martha: “ To my beloved family:
If you are reading this it is because I’m dead. I have planned its delivery previously with the postman. I wanted to write you to tell you what the important things in life are since I did not find the right moment to teach them to you before.
First of all, the FAMILY: it is important to remain all together because it is the only way to (carry) go  through problems. Second, LOVE: being together and loving each other will give you the strength to succed in life and to feel that you are not alone in the world. And last but not least, WORK: to get a job will give you a sense of resposibility needed to take care of yourself, of a family, and will teach you that the things you earn or buy, thanks to your hard work, are much more valuablethan the ones you get for free.

Martha: Just a second...
Katrina. Stop a minute. Is there anything wrong mom???
Martha. Kind of... I’m feeling a bit dizzy.
Katrina. Give me the letter. (she takes the letter away from her mother’s hands) I’ll go on. (she continues reading it for herself)
Victoria: What does it say?...Katrina!!!!...Oh!!! Give it to me. (stealing the letter from her sister’s hands)

Now that I have expressed my heart-felt intentions, there is something else to be told: my whole fortune must be given to Elizabeth. She is pregnant  with my child. I do not expect you to forgive me neither to love this baby, but I hope you understand I want to give him/her a  good  life .

                                               I will always love you,
                                                                  Daddy.

Victoria: I can’t believe it!!! My dad!!! Our dad!!!!
Katrina: What are we going to do mom???? Mom wake up!!!!!!!
Mother: The honour of my family!!! My honour!!! I’ve given him the best years of my life!!!!
Katrina. I know!!!!, Elizabeth won’t ever know about this ok???? The money is ours!!!!
Victoria: Don’t forget our father’s words: remain always together.
Elizabeth: (enters the room) Do the ladies need anything??? Is everything all right???
Martha. Go away!!!!
Victoria. Get out of here!!!!
Katrina: Don’t you have anything to clean up???

Elizabeth, resignated, goes away to do the dishes.

Even though Helena wished her husband was alife, she became so deeply depressed after years of waiting him appear on the horizon. But that never happened. Finally, one morning she stood at the window as she did everyday, but this time was the last. She threw herself from the window to finally meet Viktor not on earth but in heaven.

The thing that caught my attention about the information of the painters was that all of them left art college because they found it boring, strict, non-sense, etc. and they went to explore the world for themselves and painted following his own patterns and ideals.

I want to congratulate you all because your presentations were really good for me!!! Keep acting :)

  2. Hi! I would like to change the end of "The luncheon" by Monet.
"Elizabeth, resignated, goes away to do the dishes. But, what they
can't even imagine is that Elizabeth has also received a letter in which she is informed about the will.
'You shouldn't underestimate your enemies' murmurs Elizabeth while washing the dishes"

What impress me more about Dali is that Dali's older brother, also called Salvador, died of gastroenteritis 9 months before his birth. When he was five, Dalí was taken to his brother's grave and was told by his parents that he was his brother's reincarnation, and he started to believe it.
We can see his brother in his later works, one of them is "Portrait of My Dead Brother" (1963)

Monet won recognition from his painting "The Woman in the Green Dress". The model of this painting became later on his wife.

Picasso married several times and had many affairs.

Both Matisse and Picasso are said to have remarked that Cézanne was the father of all of them.

I'd like to add that even though I find it difficult to chill out when acting, I really enjoy this experience.

    CU!!

  3. Hello everybody! I would like to change the end of "Hopes die last" by Dali. Instead of Helena not accepting her husband dead; Helena received her husband's death body and she organized a funeral, honoring him. She was really sad and devastated, but because of his husband's love, she continued with her life, in the best way she could, trying to be happy.
About the painters what caught my attention is that Dali and Picasso were friends! Cezanne and Monet didn't use black color, and their paintings are mostly dark. I would never imagine that.

I really enjoyed everybody's performing! Congratulations! I had a great time!

  4. Hi everybody! I would like to change the end of "Hopes die last".

Even though Helena knew she should believe General Meyer about the bad news, she didn't do it at all and continued waiting for his beloved husband return for many years... until a bright morning she saw a man in the distance, dressed in rags, walking slowly... It was Viktor who was coming back home. He had just been injured on his returning, but as nobody could find him, he was thought to be dead. Since that very moment, Helena recovered her strength, her happiness and her eager to keep alive. Thank God her hopes hadn't died at all!

Well, what impressed me most about the painters was that Dali was expelled from the Art Academy and that he admired Picasso and became his friend; that Picasso married several times; that they both (Dali and Picasso) considered Cezanne “the father of all of them”. (This is really interesting, as I always thought that there may have been some kind of competitiveness between painters at those times). Also, that Cezanne and Monet didn’t use black color and were of great influence in post-impressionism. And finally, that Monet painted a portrait of a woman who became later his wife.

I couldn't have enjoyed more acting and watching all the performances! Congratulations to each of you!!!

  5. Hi everybody! I'd like to change the end of "The silly bet"

Henry left the tavern feeling victorious with people accompanying him chorusing his name. But what he did not know was that his wife was in the tavern and when he left it, she sat at the table with Richard and had a drink. Afterwards, Henry came back and saw them together and what was a chorus screaming his name, became a chorus picking on him. "this is to show you how negligible you make me feel" she said with a snobbish voice and left with Richard.

What caught my attention about the painters was that in the case of Picasso and Dali had a relation with cubism and that then, they became friends. Apart from that both were from Spain. on the other hand Monet and Cezanne didn't use black colors and that they painted from what they saw (Impressionism) and also both were from France.

well I think that all performances have been really really funny and I also believe that we are really enjoying it. Keep up the good work! Congratulations!!!!

  6. I would like to change the end of the story based on The luncheon by Monet.

Elizabeth knew that something important happened because she nobody treated in that way before.
"I'm scared, maybe they found out the truth about my baby. Oh God, please be merciful to me, I have no money and I don't have a place to live. What should I do?" said she.
Extremely guilty, she decided to find another job, and start a new life without her beloved John. Finally, when she decided to leave that caotic house something unexpected happened.
A lawyer showed up and explained her the "good" news. Elizabeth couldn't believe what he was saying. Without thinking twice, she decided to keep a part of the money and she left the rest to his family.
Martha or her daughters never heard anything about that woman again and even though they couldn't forget that betrayal, they were relieved because nobody discovered that secret.

Concerning the painters, what really caught my attention was that Picasso and Salvador Dali were friends and they actually studied in the same academy.
Another interesting fact is about Monet. At school, he was seen as a rebel. Instead of working he would draw caricatures of his teachers and friends.

I have a great time with all of you. It was a interesting activity. Congratulation guys!!

  7. Hi everybody!!! I would like to change the end of "hopes dies last"
It was a nice story and I liked, but I think that Johann should have asked Helena to marry him. It was noticeable that Johann was in love with her, and from the moment in which Helena knew her husband was dead, Johann should have thought about becoming more than just a friend or a neighbour, as they had been. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity... !!!

What surprised me the most was that Monet, a Great artist, became blind!!! How on earth!!! I didn't know that and it shocked me when I read about it. AHH, and something else! I thought that Dali was born in the 16 century, and he was actually kind of contemporary for us :-)
    C U in class!!!

  8. Hi everybody!I had a great time with all the presentations. Actually I love all of them, but as I have to change the end of one of these amazing stories, I selected "Hopes die last”. Despite of the fact I felt bad for Helen at the very end of the play, I decided to give a tragic or sad end to it as the following:

People could see Helena Kofman at the window every morning, waiting for his husband to arrive home alive, she was convinced he was. Until one day, the day in which her husband´s dead body was found, her hopes died at last. What at the beginning seemed for her to be impossible became real.

Concerning the painters, I was really surprised about most of them. However, Monet was the one who caught my attention. He was an excellent artist and beyond his paintings, there is a whole personal background that influenced him every time he was determined to paint. And as Pauli said, I was shocked to know that he became blind. Imagine how terrible for a painter!
Very interesting activity!!! Have a nice weekend guys.
    Hope to see you soon!!!

  9. Hi everybody! I would like to change the ending of the play “The silly bet”. Instead of a bet, I would like to say a “duel”.

“Let´s finish with this,” I´ll challenge you Henry Lancaster to a duel! Don`t be coward as usual, man! Just you and I defending our honor! Be prepared for the worst!” exclaimed Richard.
Immediately, Henry Lancaster accepted the challenge. He was totally sure that he would defeat his great opponent, win the respect of the whole town and end this ancient dispute.
“Of course I do bastard! You will need some money to pay your burial now. I´ll wait you at 3.30 p.m. in the churchyard near the town. Be punctual!”
Both rivals went back to their homes to prepare their guns for the duel. The entire town was shocked. The idea of a bloody duel in that small town caused uproar, with babies crying and people shouting.
At 3.30 p.m. men gathered in the churchyard as they arranged. Both of them knew that the combat was based on a code of honor. They didn`t fight so much to kill the opponent as to gain satisfaction, that was to restore their honor by demonstrating a willingness to risk one´s life for it
Richard was accompanied by his wife, who couldn’t bear the situation. He was going to explode. Such was his anger that immediately after he saw Henry, he held his gun to Henry´s head. Henry didn´t have time to react. Friends and relatives begged to think about what was he doing, but Richard was determined to kill him.
“Come on Richard. You`ve always been a coward. Show us now that you have changed. You don`t have the guts to do it!” Henry shouted.
    Richard dropped his weapon.
    Ok! Let`s start!”
The men placed back to back with loaded weapons in hand and walked a set number of paces. The sheriff gave the order: “Ready, aim, fire!”
“I`m going to kill you!” said Richard.
    Let`s see!”, answered Henry.
Richard shot his gun, but something strange happened. Unexpectedly, his gun failed. Really confused, he brandished his knife, but it was too late. Against his better judgment, Henry shot his gun and Richard fell, he was bleeding on the ground.
Watching this, Henry committed suicide. Henry and Richard, the most courageous men of the town were lying on the ground covered with blood, accompanied by their devastated families. None of them won honor, but maybe they won peace.

Concerning the painters something that caught my attention was the fact that Money joined the army when he was very young, but his aunt was determined to get out him from there, because she believed that He should studied arts. Amazing!

  10. I would like to change the end of “hopes dies last”
When Elena´s biggest fear became true, she didn´t doubt about what she had to do. She went to the bathroom and filled the bathtub with hot water, then, she looked for the pills that had helped her to sleep for many nights, and crying she took the whole pill box. After this, she put on the last dress that Victor had given her and laid in the bathtub, she closed her eyes and waited… in a moment she would see Victor again.
Johann found her some hours later with a smile on her face. She seemed in peace.
What caught my attention about Picasso is that his wife Jacqueline didn´t allow their children to attend the funeral. It was also interesting that Dali and Picasso were friends! Finally an interesting fact is that Cezanne and Monet didn´t use black colour.

  11. Hi!!! First of all, I loved the performances. I think we all enjoyed them and had fun. We had a great time together!
I`d like to change the end of the story based on “The luncheon” by Monet.
As Elizabeth entered the room, she saw the ladies` faces and she realized that they had just received the news.
When the ladies shouted at her, Elizabeth interrupted them saying she had also received a letter from John. She read it. There, he told Elizabeth he loved her and the baby, and that he wanted the best future for him/her. For that reason he left her his whole fortune.
Elizabeth told the ladies she was determined to fight for her fights. As she had the letter that proved she was the heir to john’s fortune, she would look for legal help in order to get the money. The ladies were determined not to change their position. They fought for the fortune but it wasn’t worth, because John`s letter proved he had left all his fortune to his beloved Elizabeth and his baby.
About the painters, what impressed me most was that both Picasso and Monet had a hard life, and that Monet become blind when he was old; that Monet and Cizanne were a great influence for the other painters, and the techniques they used, because they painted with small strokes.

  12. Hi, I would like to change the end of "Hopes dies last"...

After hearing the news, Helena and Johann rushed to the place were the lists where. After read it and read it over again, they did not find the name of Helena's husband on the list. She felt deeply miserable and broke into tears.
Sorrowful, she came back home, stood by the window and kept waiting for him. She refused to lose hopes, she refused to the idea of loosing him, forever.

Well about the painters what really surprised me was that Monet didn't use the black colour and that Dali and Picasso were friends. I didn´t expect that.

Martha was disconcerted after reading the letter, she gave it to her daughters and ran to call her lawyer, but she didn't notice that Elizabeth was on the next room and heard the conversation between them. She had nothing to regret about her secret true love with John, Elizabeth clearly heard what Martha told her lawyer: "We are free to love each other since I'm a widow now, the girls will undestand, let's give them some time!". Before she hung up the phone, Elizabeth entered the room. Martha stood there...petrified!

  14. Hello guys, I would like to change the end of "hopes die last"
A whole year has passed since the general informed Helena that her beloved husband was dead. There she was, standing in the window waiting for him to come, as any other day. But that day, was not like the others, that day Helena decided to go on with her life. So she went to Johann's place, to tell him how much she loved him, and needed him to stand by her. That day, Helena felt alive again.

And concerning the painters what caught my eye was the fact that, though their paintings were quite dark, Monet and Cezanne didn't use black colors. I wouldn't have payed attention to it, but it's kind ou curious. Appart from that, nothing impressed me that much, maybe because I'm not a big fan of paintings. I find them quite boring. But it never hurts to know a little bit more about art.
Well, hope you all doing well. See you around!

  15. Hi guys! I´ve enjoyed this activity a lot because when we read and re-write someone else´s story, we have the chance to enhance both our imagination and creativity reaching another level when dealing with a different topic.
And the painters´ task… Well, let´s say I enjoy writing most ha ha. But anyway there was some interesting data on each of them that kind of caught my attention actually. Like the fact that the women portrayed in picture at the window was Dali´s sister herself; or that in Picasso´s words: “Cezanne´s the father of all of us”, referring to himself and his contemporaries; and the post-impressionist technique of mixing different colors to give an idea of something obscure, instead of using the black color, which was actually never used.
I hope you guys like it. See you next week

Henry left the tavern feeling victorious with people accompanying him chorusing his name. But only one man remained there. It was Richard Thomson finding himself in bankrupt and defeated; but when he got up, he accidentally discovered a couple of cards under the table and he immediately realized that Henry had tossed them away in the middle of the game in order to have a better hand because they were useless for him. Henry had cheated!!! He had betrayed Richard´s trust in a most vile way. So, Richard dashed outside looking for Henry just in time to hear him say to one of the fellows:

“That bastard will never learn, will he? I cheated all the time and he couldn´t even tell!!! Ha ha ha, what a prick!!!” He mocked.

“Aha!!! So that was all about Lancaster: you cheated on me you filthy snake!!! You´re a dead man!!! Exclaimed Thomson. And practically at the same time he produced his Magnum from its holder, he shot Richard Lancaster who died in the blink of an eye.

“That´s what you get when you mess up with the wrong man, Lancaster.” Said Thomson. And he walked away. From that day onwards, no one ever saw him again.

  16. I´ve really enjoyed roleplaying. It was a different class experience, and a different way of learning, because as we had to perform a painting, while gathering information about the paintors and having to write a story for that specific paint it made the job much more interesting.
It was really interesting the info we got about all the different artists, but what really caught my attention while reading about Monet and Impressionism was the different uses of colour paintors belonging to these period made of. It was realliy interesting for me to see all those paintings, and to have the posibility to compare some of them, specially the ones that Monet painted in sequence, for example, his gardens in the morning, in the afternoon, or in spring, and in winter...it really fascinated me.

I would like to change the end of LE MOULIN DE LA GALETTE. (Based on Pablo Picasso's painting). At the end, three handsome men, brothers, very reach indeed, invite the three cousins to drink something and to have a talk with them And I would probably let time pass through, and I would have finished the story with the three brothers marrying the three cousins, a happy ending for the three of them despite their difference in character and their different personal interests, each having what they had been dreaming about.
